After the lows of last nights loss to Claude Puel’s new-look Leicester City side, fans here in the Tavern are starting to dwell on some possible mistakes that have led to the downfall they’re currently experiencing. Although his goal-scoring boots were re-discovered during his time at Swansea City, Fernando Llorente has been somewhat of a mystery buy in his regular take up on the bench, due to his failings to provide anywhere near enough support for the man carrying the heavy-load, Harry Kane, causing a sense of confusion for his purpose between many of the Lilywhites here in the pub.
Indeed, Harry Kane has certainly discovered a world-class form this season, having netted 15 times in 17 games it doesn’t take a genius to realize just how important he’s becoming to the Pochettino legacy, for a striker joining the likes of Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Robin Van Persie as the only players to score 30 goals in a season, he’s quite clearly in the form of his life.
However, without an appropriate rotation player waiting in line, the reliance upon the shoulders of the England man looks to be getting too much. After a couple of weary performances combined with a busy packed schedule, it has all caused fans to fear for Tottenham’s Premier League dreams. Indeed, Spanish striker Fernando Llorente has proven to be one of the worst investments in recent years, having failed to score in the 15 appearances made so far, it causes a sense of unrest for the fanatics looking over Kane’s welfare, with a risk of tiring look all the more likely.
So, with everything being taken into consideration, we’re posing the question to you Spurs fans, was signing Llorente in the summer months a mistake that could potentially cost you in the quest for a top 4 place?
