“Publicity stunt or?” – fans unimpressed by journo’s shock Arsenal update

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t agreed on much lately, but they’re certainly singing from the same hymn sheet when it comes to a certain journalist.

Earlier today, Tancredi Palmeri, who has worked for beIN Sports, CNN and Gazzetta dello Sport, claimed on Twitter that Arsene Wenger has already informed the Arsenal players he’ll be leaving the club at the end of the season – following an article he posted on Sportnews.Snai.it.

Of course, that’s by no means out of the question; Wenger’s contract is due to expire in the summer and he’s yet to accept the club’s offer of a two-year extension, suggesting his north London tenure could well be coming to an abrupt end.

Likewise, Arsenal’s performances have been far from fantastic of late – in fact, humbling defeats to Bayern Munich and Liverpool produced the kind of displays that would force any manager to consider resignation.

But it’s safe to say Tancredi Palmeri doesn’t boast much in the way of integrity these days after some controversial transfer-based exclusives that failed to come into fruition.

And although few doubt how plausible such a scenario is, not many are convinced Palmeri gathered his evidence from reputable sources. The comments section of his Twitter post is filled with protesting Gunners fans…
