Queen Park Rangers: Noel Whelan recommends selling Eberechi Eze to sign Jordan Hugill permanently

Pundit's choice

Football Insider pundit Noel Whelan believes that QPR should consider a potential swap deal with West Ham which would see Eberechi Eze and Jordan Hugill exchange clubs.

The former is a summer transfer target for the Hammers (as per Football Insider) while the latter has been on loan with the R’s from London Stadium this season and scored 13 goals for Mark Warbuton’s side.

Whelan was speaking to Football Insider about the possibility of the two players swapping between capital clubs and he was especially complimentary of Eze’s talents.

The ex-Leeds striker said: “I really admire him, I think he’s a fantastic midfield player. He’s very comfortable on the ball, very composed, great engine, gets forward, great feet going into that final third, I’ve praised him so much when I’ve been at Leeds and seen him, watched him play and I’ve seen him grow and get better.

“He seems like a great acquisition for the future, to get a player like that on board, because I think he’ll be a fantastic player, I really do. It doesn’t surprise me that clubs like West Ham are looking at him.

“It would be a great swap deal. The clubs will be happy with that, he’ll have the opportunity to showcase his ability at the very top level with West Ham.”

Which of these two would you rather have at QPR next season?

Eze

Eze

Hugill

Hugill

Whelan is right to wax lyrical about Eze, who has been magnificent for QPR this season. A return of 12 goals and eight assists from the attacking midfielder shows his obvious effectiveness in the final third, while he has by far the highest average WhoScored match rating of anyone at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this term with an impressive 7.45.

The R’s could ill afford to sell him unless they receive a gargantuan offer, although the blow of losing the 21-year-old talent would be softened if they managed to clinch a permanent deal for Hugill in a swap with West Ham.

The 28-year-old striker is QPR’s second top scorer this season with 13 goals, two behind fellow loanee Nahki Wells, so Warburton knows how to get the best out of him and Hoops fans will realise the potency that the Middlesbrough native possesses.

Preferably QPR could keep Eze but, if other offers become simply too tempting for him and the club, the R’s should consider Whelan’s recommendation of arranging a swap deal with the Hammers that would see Hugill become their player full-time.

QPR fans, do you share Whelan’s views about a possible swap deal involving Eze and Hugill? Comment below with your views!
