Aston Villa are one of only five English sides to have lifted the European Cup/the Champions League, along with Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
In 1982, Tony Barton’s Villans beat Pal Csernai’s Bayern Munich 1-0 in Rotterdam to clinch continental glory, with Peter Withe’s 67th-minute goal the difference.
That Villa team were also champions of England the previous season, landing the club’s seventh league title overall and their first since before the First World War.
And the trophy room at Villa Park also houses seven FA Cups, five League Cups and UEFA Super Cup.
So while the Birmingham outfit are a mid-table team at present, finishing 17th, 11th and 14th in the three seasons since they were promoted back to the Premier League, they remain a big club with a storied history.
