Ralph Hasenhuttl has certainly seen some improvement from his Southampton squad since taking over.
The club are starting to put together a run of results in the Premier League and have not tasted defeat in their last five top-flight games.
Hasenhuttl managed to offload a number of players in the winter transfer window without making any additions, however, he believes he has one man that can play in almost every position.
James Ward-Prowse has through the ranks at Southampton over the years and has been a vital member of the team.
His form had dipped earlier in the season and was rarely used by Mark Hughes, however, he appears to have rediscovered himself under the new manager and Hasenhuttl believes improvement in one key area has helped the player.
“I think Prowsey has made a good development with his aggression because that’s what I missed from him the most when I came here,” he told the Southern Daily Echo.
“He is a good footballing player and a nice guy, but now he showed that he can also be aggressive, win duels, win balls back and with his physical quality he can nearly play in every position.”
The Verdict:
It is hard to deny that Hasenhuttl’s arrival has benefit Ward-Prowse in a positive way.
The 24-year-old had been struggling with his form before the Austrian’s appointment and came in for some criticism, but he has since turned things around on the pitch and has started to come up with important contributions.
A midfielder by trade, who played as a right-back against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Burnley, Ward-Prowse will now look to kick on and ensure The Saints get as far away as possible from the relegation zone.
