Rangers: Steven Thompson criticises Antonio Colak vs Raith

Rangers' Antonio-Mirko Colak applauds fans after been substituted

Former Glasgow Rangers striker Steven Thompson has criticised the performance of Antonio Colak despite his team’s 3-0 win at Ibrox this afternoon.

The Lowdown: Comfortable win

It was a comfortable win for the home side in the end, as goals from Connor Goldson and Scott Arfield either side of a Ryan Nolan own goal ensured that they went through to the next round of the Scottish Cup.

Raith Rovers were no match for Michael Beale’s side in the end, but some players may have still been slightly disappointed with their own performances.

The Latest: Colak ‘sloppy’

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Thompson claimed that it was ‘a day to forget’ for Colak, adding that he was ‘sloppy’ in some parts of his play:

“A day to forget for Colak.

“It’s not been a good day for Antonio Colak, he’s not really been involved at all and some of his play was quite sloppy.”

The Verdict: Off day

It was just an off day for the striker, who has otherwise been brilliant so far this season.

Colak has managed to score no fewer than 17 goals and make a further three assists in 35 games in total over all competitions (Transfermarkt), but today was not his day in front of goal.

The 29-year-old just needs to pick himself up now, with their next game coming at Saturday lunchtime away at Motherwell, where the Gers will need to get all three points and keep piling on the pressure on leaders Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
