Rangers’ visit to Celtic Park on Sunday was arguably their biggest game of the season, and it was crucial Steven Gerrard got the team selection right. However, before the game fans were more concerned by lack of options on the bench and particularly the lack of 29-year-old Greg Stewart.
The right-sided midfielder has started just three league games this season and has made nine substitute appearances. However, in that time he’s managed to bag three goals, so he could have given the Gers the clinical edge they were lacking against Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final earlier in the month, where they had 16 shots to Celtic’s five but still lost the game 1-0.
Rangers’ official twitter account posted the news of the line-up on Twitter and plenty of fans replied to show their dismay at why Stewart wasn’t even included in the matchday squad. Jordan Jones was also mentioned as another option who should have been on the bench.

Stewart should be on that bench before Ojo and Barker!

Love the starting XI but Greg Stewart must have a secret Everton tattoo or something to no even be on the bench

Ojo and Barker on the bench as options instead of Stewart and Jones… pic.twitter.com/Uvff7gN4Dv

The correct starting 11 but would rather have seen Jones and Stewart on the bench than Ojo and Barker.

Stewart and JJ should be on the bench instead of barker and ojo, other than that bangin team

Barker and Ojo instead of Stewart and Jones is scandalous

Rangers fans, would you have included Greg Stewart on the bench for Sunday’s game?
