Rangers: Fans in bullish mood ahead of cup tie against Stranraer

Rangers return to competitive action for the first time in 2020 tonight with a Scottish Cup fourth round tie at home to Stranraer and, ahead of the match, ‘Gers fan @Cjnovo992 on Twitter sought followers’ predictions for the game, with many expecting a very emphatic win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

The Light Blues resume their season off the back of the perfect ending to 2019 when they defeated Glasgow neighbours and Premiership title rivals Celtic away from home and tonight they host a Stranraer side rooted to the bottom of League One and winless in six games since beating Dunfermline in the previous round of the cup.

Rangers embark on their latest Scottish Cup campaign hoping to win the trophy for the first time in 11 years, their longest gap without success in the tournament since 1992. They have only reached one final (in 2016) since that 2009 triumph and last season their hopes in the competition were ended by a quarter-final replay defeat to Aberdeen (as per TransferMarkt).
