A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with what they feel is a subdued and negative atmosphere at Ibrox of late.
Sky Sports reporter Charles Paterson, who covered the Light Blues’ 1-0 win at home to St Mirren on Wednesday, wrote that “the tension inside Ibrox was audible” as supporters “vented their frustrations at the lack of creative spark” from their team, with almost 50,000 in attendance on the night. That win came five days after Rangers had to be patient before eventually breaking down third-tier Stranraer in the Scottish Cup, with Scott Arfield breaking the deadlock just before half-time.
The ‘Gers came into 2020 off the back of a derby win away to Celtic, who they trail by just two points in a tightly-contested title race, and have won their last six matches in all competitions, although the atmosphere at Ibrox had already been a source of discontent among some Rangers fans in recent weeks. Following the St Mirren game on Wednesday, supporters of the club again voiced their displeasure with the mood around the stadium on Twitter, with one fan equating it to “a ghost town”:

Just looking for decent fans at Ibrox for once. The people I feel bad for are the ones who want atmosphere but don’t sit BF, because they get ridiculed for singing and standing up. Our support is embarrassing sometimes
