Plenty of Rangers fans were saluting the performance of left-back Borna Barisic on Wednesday night as the Croatian made a key contribution to Steven Gerrard’s men collecting another three points in the Premiership.
The 27-year-old set up the only goal of the 1-0 win against St Mirren at Ibrox, providing the cross (albeit with the help of a deflection) from which Jermain Defoe scored in the 34th minute (as per Sky Sports). That was his 14th assist of the season, more than any other Rangers player, and follows on from the two goals that he set up in the win over Celtic prior to the mid-season break.
Sky Sports reporter Charles Paterson noted other contributions from Barisic on the night, including setting up an early chance for Joe Aribo and a second half free kick which briefly “caused chaos in the St Mirren defence”. The 4th Official‘s Ayush Chaurasia said that the Croatian “looks on another level at the moment as he threatened consistently down the left”, while James Black of Rangers News wrote that he was “a massive threat down the left” and “Rangers’ main attacking outlet for long spells”.
These ‘Gers fans on Twitter were also raving about Barisic after his display against St Mirren:

Didn't realise just how much I missed, and just adore witnessing Borna Barisic in a Rangers shirt. God I love him.

No surprise for me Barisic is involved in our goal arguably our most important player IMO
