Several Rangers fans on Twitter were singing the praises of veteran striker Jermain Defoe after seeing footage of his winning goal from midweek that was posted by the Ibrox club’s official Twitter account @RangersFC.

The club tweeted a 34-second video which shows the 37-year-old’s finish from Wednesday’s win over St Mirren from behind the net, with Borna Barisic’s low cross taking a deflection on its way to Defoe, who reacted sharply to steer the ball beyond Buddies goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky for the only goal of the game (as per BBC) and his 16th of the season so far.
The ‘Gers striker was given his ninth Premiership start of the season in the absence of the suspended Alfredo Morelos, who is the club’s top scorer this term with 28 goals, and scored in his second successive game, having also converted a penalty in last week’s Scottish Cup win over Stranraer. With 16 goals in 1,201 minutes of game-time, Defoe has scored once every 75.06 minutes this season when on the pitch.
After seeing the club’s footage of his winner against St Mirren, these Rangers fans lauded the 37-year-old forward, with one stating that he is a superior finisher to team-mate Morelos:
Classy striker. Better finisher than Morelos. I wish he was 10 years younger.

Lovely to watch a master of his craft. Static defender, and just a wee step in front in anticipation of the ball

One of the best finishers we’ve seen at Ibrox since super!
