Lots of Rangers fans have been hailing the influence of Nikola Katic, as the towering defender grabbed a goal and clean sheet in Sunday’s win over Motherwell.
After proving he was better than Joe Worrall to cement his place in Steven Gerrard’s side last season, Katic has been put back on the bench for the majority of this campaign.
Indeed, after playing 30 times last season, the 6 foot 3 colossus has had to watch on as Filip Helander occupies the spot alongside Connor Goldson this year, managing just 16 appearances so far, with most of those coming earlier in the campaign before Helander was settled.
He was given the nod against Hibs on Sunday though, and showed the type of form that endeared him to the Ibrox faithful last season.
The 23 year-old, valued at £1.8m by Transfermarkt, can be somewhat rash at times, but his front-foot defending gets supporters off their seats and he also planted an excellent header past Mark Gillespie in Sunday’s 2-0 win.
