Rangers: Fans loved seeing Steven Gerrard play for Gers in charity match

At least the international break brought one positive for the blue side of Glasgow, as 30,000 fans got to see Rangers Legends play Liverpool legends. Liverpool may have come out 3-2 winners, but they witnessed manager Steven Gerrard play for both sides.

On 81 minutes, Gerrard came on as a substitute wearing the deep blue of the Gers to a roar from the home crowd who’d sarcastically booed him in the first half when he played for his old club. The 39-year-old showed he can still drive forward through the midfield and picked up his on-pitch relationship with Luis Garcia, who managed to bag a goal.

Kris Boyd and Peter Lovenkrands got the goals for Rangers, but Gerrard’s appearance from the bench was the main talking point of the day. The club’s official Twitter account posted a video of him coming on and fans took to the replies to say how satisfying it was to see such a great of the British game pull on their kit.
