Rangers fans returned from their away trip to Hibernian safe in the knowledge that they’d swept away the opposition without much issue on Friday night. One lucky young fan arrived home from the 3-0 win with even more though, when captain James Tavernier came over to the away end to give him his shirt.
The right-back was in a jubilant mood and rightly so, considering the solid performance he put in. Rangers fan site Rangers News said he put in an “impressive shift down the right”, noting how he’s “getting back to his best” while linking up with Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo. He’s played in all 17 of Rangers’ league games this season, so, of course, he’s key to their title challenge.
The club posted a video of the Englishman handing over his shirt to the boy who then left Tavernier hanging. The captain called the boy back and the two clasped hands in respect. Fans saw the video and many were quick to reply and praise the 28-year-old for the gesture.

Perfect captain. A true gentleman and a cracking player. Doesn’t get the recognition he deserves!

It’s hard to look cool when someone pies you like that, but Tav styles it out as usual. Good man, my captain 👍
