Rather surprisingly, the Rangers fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern are in lighter spirits of late following the departure of Mark Warburton. 

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the managerial position at Ibrox, the former Brentford coach was growing increasingly unpopular in Glasgow for his poor work in the transfer market and miserable record in big games with the Gers. Still, as much as they are happy about it, there’s little doubt the next managerial appointment is an important one for the club.

Clearly, that pressure is a bit much for the drinkers in the bar, who are discussing other aspects of the club’s current setup in a bid to find further reasons to smile. With that in mind, we here in the bar are ready to provide one.

There’s little better to cheer fans up than waxing lyrical about the burgeoning youngsters within the club’s ranks, so here’s a closer look at TWO emerging stars fans should keep a close eye on.

Liam Burt

With Rangers in dire need of some creativity, moves for the likes of Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman could have been avoided, had they trusted Liam Burth with more first-team appearances. The 18-year-old is a wonderfully gifted playmaker, preferring to assist rather than score.

A Scotland U20 international, he’ll be a huge player in the years to come.

Billy Gilmour

Linked with a raft of top European clubs of late, 15-year-old Billy Gilmour has been training with the first-team after a series of sparkling performances for Graeme Murty’s developmental sides.

While not as silky as the aforementioned Burt, he can bomb forward from a deeper berth and score pearlers such as this one.
