Ross McCrorie has struggled for game time this season under Steven Gerrard. The Gers brought in a few midfield reinforcements over the summer, limiting 20-year-old McCrorie to mostly appearances off the bench. So far this season the young midfielder has appeared just 13 times and only completed 90 minutes three times, although in his ten-minute spell today, he looked really good.

The defensive-minded midfield option will likely br called upon a lot more over the festive period. The games come thick and fast for the Gers and with Scott Arfield facing a suspension for his stupid challenge on Hearts goalkeeper Zdeněk Zlámal, there’s already one position in Stevie G’s midfield three that has become available. However, whether Gerrard trusts McCrorie from the start is a different question entirely.
The young Scottish commander really burst onto the scene last season as a Scottish Premier League player. The midfielder had been kicking around playing for the age group sides at Ibrox and featured as a teenager when they were in the lower leagues, but last season saw him rack up 17 games in the league, being deployed at both centre-back and in a defensive midfield role as The Gers fought hard for a 2nd placed finish.
