Yesterday evening saw Rangers travel to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup 5th round. It was an eventful 0-0 that saw plenty of bookings and a missed penalty, yet it should also have seen a red card when Alan Power kicked Ryan Jack in the face whilst contesting a high ball.

The fans cannot believe how ludicrous the decision not to send the Kilmarnock star off was, and they’re all firmly of the belief that had it been Alfredo Morelos, whos’ reputation proceeds him in Scottish football, then the challenge would have been deemed worthy of a red card. This is just the Gers latest frustration when it comes to officiating in Scottish football, and it’s hard to blame them.
Steven Gerrard won’t be happy with the number of red cards his team has received, and it must feel like even more of a kick in the teeth when a player like Alan Power can get away with murder in the form of a karate kick in the face on Ryan Jack. The Bluenoses, and Gerrard, would have expected to see Jack walk had the challenge been the other way around, so it seems shocking that the Kilmarnock midfielder managed 90 minutes.

The Gers still cannot believe Power got away with a booking and will hope there’s a serious reshuffle with the refereeing in Scotland.
