Rangers supporters have been pretty downbeat in recent days after seeing their side suffer their first defeat under Steven Gerrard last weekend.
The Light Blues had made a fine start to the 2018/19 season in qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League alongside winning one and drawing the other two of their opening three Scottish Premiership games, thus increasing the confidence around Ibrox that Gerrard could be set to take the club back to the summit of Scottish football. Yet the Gers were second-best in the Old Firm derby at Celtic Park on Sunday to lose 1-0 to Brendan Rodgers’ side, with Olivier Ntcham’s strike enough to seal all three points for the champions.
As such, there have been many downbeat Rangers fans up and down the country in recent times, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent tweet from pundit and ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton in response to an interview Kyle Lafferty did with Cool FM.
The Rangers forward made the move back to Ibrox during the summer having left the club in 2012, and played the full 90 minutes on Sunday at Parkhead as the Gers suffered their first loss under new boss Gerrard.
Yet the 30-year-old has admitted that the Light Blues believe that they can win title number 55 this season ahead of their bitter rivals, which prompted Sutton to respond by tweeting: ‘Here we go again…’.

And that provoked several responses from Rangers supporters on the social media platform, with many launching a stern defence of their striker following the comments from the ex-forward…
Chris do you think it would ever be acceptable for ANY old firm dressing room to NOT believe they can win the league?

Why would they think anything else?

I know Chris. It’s almost as bad as Rodgers and his players talking to media about being confident of qualifying for CL groups…

Lafferty doesn’t write the headline and also what’s the point of playing the game if you don’t have belief as a player & a squad

You were really good at bottling titles but surely you believed at the start of the season you were going to win it
