Rangers: Fans react to Filip Helander’s full debut against Derby County

Rangers fans saw Filip Helander handed his full debut for the side on Sunday in their friendly against Derby County and appeared to like what they saw.

The 26-year-old signed for the Ibrox outfit on a four-year deal after the Light Blues managed to agree to a £3.5million deal with Bologna (The Scottish Sun).

The Sweden international was paired alongside Nikola Katic as Rangers played their final warm-up match before the start of the upcoming Scottish Premiership campaign as Steven Gerrard looks to identify his best team moving forward.

The Croatian centre-back is not the only individual that the Scandanavian is going to have to compete with for a place in the first-team though, with the likes of Connor Goldson and George Edmundson also available to the club.

However, it seems Helander put in a good account of himself and left many of the onlookers in awe with his performance at the back.

The Daily Record noted that despite his heavy price-tag and the fact that he made a mistake, he looked good with an assured display in the 64 minutes he was on the pitch.

Football Scotland also stated that Helander looked a real threat going forward at set-pieces and believe he can be an asset for Rangers in the upcoming campaign.

Fans were pretty pleased with what they saw from one of their latest additions this summer and took to Twitter to share their immediate responses to his performance.
