Rangers: Fans react to George Edmundson’s Twitter post

Rangers fans took to Twitter to praise George Edmundson for the role he played in their win against Progres Niederkorn on Thursday night.

The former Oldham Athletic defender took to the social network site on Friday to share his reaction to the game and stated that the ‘fans were class as usual’.

The young centre-back started ahead of Nikola Katic and Filip Helander as he played his second game in a row and helped Steven Gerrard’s side put one foot into the next round of the Europa League tournament with a routine win over the Luxembourg outfit.

As Rangers News noted in their player ratings, Edmundson didn’t put a foot wrong all night and came in for a glowing review following his performance.

“Surprise starter but impressed at the heart of defence on the odd occasion he was needed defensively. Looking to be a real bargain. Won’t play every week but appears to be a solid option to have,” they wrote.

Although there will be harder opponents in the future and tougher matches, it would seem fans were in agreement with those ratings as many of them shared their praise with Edmundson on his Twitter post and were looking forward to the future.

One supporter stated that he was blown away by the 21-year-old’s performance and felt that he was first class throughout the game, whereas another were impressed with his attitude and desire to win the ball back as soon as possible.
