Rangers: Fans take to Twitter to celebrate Andy Halliday’s four-year anniversary

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to share their celebratory messages with Andy Halliday after the club posted a tweet regarding his four-year stay at Ibrox.

Having originally started his career with the Light Blues as a youngster, the versatile 27-year-old returned to Glasgow in 2015 on a free transfer when his contract at Bradford City had expired (BBC).

Things certainly did not go his way in the early stages of his second spell with the club. In the summer of 2017, he was sent to Azerbaijan to play for Gabala on a season-long loan when Pedro Caixinha was in charge. However, that was ended prematurely as he returned to Scotland in January.

He teamed up with Graeme Murty upon his return but they infamously had a falling out after the manager hooked Halliday off just before half-time in their embarrassing Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic (Scottish Sun).

Indeed, things have certainly got better for him under Steven Gerrard though. He was originally one individual that was expected to depart when the new manager came to Ibrox, as Halliday was allegedly told that he would not be in their plans for the 2018/19 campaign (Evening Times).

Despite being on the periphery of the first-team, the versatile winger still managed to make 22 appearances for Rangers last season in the Scottish Premiership, providing a goal and an assist (Transfermarkt).

Fans took to Twitter to celebrate the four years Halliday has been back at the club with positivity and praised him for his contribution to the club, with the block against Celtic being a firm favourite amongst fans (BBC) and even making Gerrard declare him as his ‘unofficial captain’ (Telegraph).
