The club confirmed on their official website on Wednesday that the 22-year-old has gone south of the border and joined League One outfit Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.
Hardie had come through the youth ranks at Ibrox and had looked to be within a shot of breaking into Steven Gerrard’s first-team with some of his performances last season.
The youngster was hugely impressive during his season-long loan spell with Livingston to begin with as he scored five goals in five games, which saw him earn a new deal with Rangers (club’s official website). Unfortunately, he saw his form dry up as he finished the season with seven strikes and one assist in 22 appearances [Soccerbase].
As the Scotsman reported, Hardie’s future at Rangers had looked to be in doubt earlier this summer as he had been left out of the Gers’ pre-season training camp in Portugal.
Indeed, with the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, it was always going to be a difficult challenge for him to break into the starting XI at Ibrox.
Subsequently, fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter that Hardie has left the club on a permanent basis with disappointment.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Should’ve been playing years ago instead of signing donkeys like @KevinKyle1981 and Jon Daly

Shame, I hoped he would become something for us.

A real shame Hardie didn’t get more of an opportunity at Ibrox because he’s a lad who will certainly score goals but it was difficult to see where he was going to fit into the team. All the best to him at Bloomfield Road. https://t.co/WVTONWtMxV
