Glasgow Rangers podcasters Heart & Hand were left slamming Calvin Bassey despite going through to the UEFA Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.

The Lowdown: Rangers through

Despite a 2-1 loss away at Red Star Belgrade last night, the Ibrox faithful find themselves through to the quarter-finals after a wonderful 3-0 home victory meant they won 4-2 on aggregate.

There are some big and interesting names still left in the competition, including Premier League high-fliers West Ham United and La Liga giants FC Barcelona.

Allan McGregor, Ryan Kent and Connor Goldson were the stars of the show in the return leg, with the winger grabbing a goal to go with four successful take-ons, while Goldson won seven of his nine duels and added a whopping eight clearances (SofaScore).

McGregor stood out best of the lot, making a frankly remarkable 11 saves, but one man left fans disappointed.

The Latest: Bassey slammed

Taking to Twitter, Heart & Hand were not impressed with Bassey, asking if he was 'wearing wellies', suggesting that he was slipping all over the place and was not moving quick enough.

The Verdict: Can do better

Bassey will know that he can do better than the performance he showed, as it simply was not his night in Belgrade.

Given a mere 6.0 overall rating by SofaScore, the lowest out of any player on the pitch, the left-back lost out on four of his duels, and also failed to record a single successful dribble, clearance, key pass, accurate cross or long ball.

Bassey gave possession away 13 times in total, and recorded just 37 touches, fewer than goalkeeper McGregor, meaning that he lost the ball roughly every 2.8 touches on average.

Nonetheless, he will now have to dust himself down for the trip to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday lunchtime.
