Glasgow Rangers academy gem Cameron Scott has reportedly rejected a professional contract from the Ibrox outfit.

The Lowdown: Highly-rated

As per Football Insider, Scott is a player who is highly-rated at Rangers, and they even consider him to be one of the best in their academy.

Michael Beale seemingly sees him as someone with the potential to play in the first team in the future, but now it looks as if his next steps at the club are uncertain.

The Latest: Contract rejected

According to Football Insider, Scott has rejected a professional contract from the Gers, after being offered a three-year deal.

He is thought to want to explore his options, having become an influential part of the academy.

The Verdict: Blow

The Light Blues will not want to lose any of their promising young talents from their academy, and so Scott rejecting a contract offer is certainly a blow.

The 16-year-old has represented Scotland at youth level, and is currently playing in the U17s for the Teddy Bears.

Nonetheless, there is still time for them to persuade Scott to stay, and so they should consider sending him a second offer.

However, with the Scotsman wanting to explore his options, they should be wary that any offer that they do make might not get accepted, and brace themselves for his potential departure.
