Many Glasgow Rangers fans have been slamming Connor Goldson for his part in the opening goal for Motherwell in their Premiership clash this lunchtime.

There was some sloppy play between him and James Tavernier which led to a corner for the hosts early on in the first half, which culminated in Bevis Mugabi putting the ball in the net to put Steven Gerrard's side 1-0 down.

Mugabi was Goldson's man on the corner, and he left him to ghost to the back post after Allan McGregor had saved an initial header.

Luckily for the Gers defender, Tavernier and Fashion Sakala spared his blushes with two quickfire goals before the half-time whistle, altering what could have been a very different interval team talk by Gerrard, with the champions eventually running out comprehensive winners at Fir Park.

Nonetheless, it did not stop plenty of the Ibrox faithful voicing their anger at the English centre-back over his role in Motherwell's opener.

Rangers fans on Goldson mistakes

These Light Blues supporters slammed Goldson on Twitter after his mistakes cost them a goal, with one fan even going as far as to claim that he was 'amateur' in his defending.

The 28-year-old had come under fire from some fans after his recent performance against Aberdeen, and a minority of the Ibrox faithful even called for him to be sold following his lapses today.
