Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard snapped at a reporter during his post-match press conference on Thursday after it was suggested his side had put in a 7/10 performance.
The ‘Gers continued their stunning form so far this campaign with a 1-0 victory over Lech Poznan in the Europa League. It was far from a breathtaking victory but the Ibrox outfit got the job done to pick up all three points.
During the post-match press conference, one journalist asked whether Gerrard was happy that his side were able to pick up all three points despite a 7/10 performance. This did not go down well, with the former Liverpool captain responding:
“Is that what you’re calling it? Seven out 10?
“I think we were watching two different games because I’ve just seen my team work ever so hard against a good dangerous team so we must have been watching completely different games. We’re on different pages with that one.”
A different side to the Gers
The 54-time Scottish champions have been fantastic this term – they are unbeaten in all 17 matches, winning 15 and drawing two. There have been some wonderful displays along the way, such as the 5-1 win over Motherwell and the 4-0 hammering of Willem II.
However, it is not always possible to blow teams off the park – sometimes, you have to do things the hard way, and that was certainly the case against their Polish opponents last night. It was far from the perfect performance, but the ‘Gers got the job done in the end.
Was Gerrard right to snap?
Why Gerrard was so unhappy with the journalist’s observation is a mystery. This was far from an insult – if anything, it was a compliment, as the ‘Gers are showing that they can win in a number of ways. That is the sign of potential champions.
In other news, Rangers fans rage at this new signing’s latest comments.
