Glasgow Rangers: Fans unhappy with SPFL tweet

Glasgow Rangers will be rather happy with the start to the season they have had.

As it stands, the Gers are top of the Premiership, having won five and drawn one of their first six matches. Not only that, Steven Gerrard’s side have not conceded a single goal throughout the campaign, and they have also opened up a six-point gap over their fierce city rivals Celtic – although the Bhoys do have two games in hand.

It hasn’t all gone swimmingly recently for the Gers though – they found themselves in a war of words with the SPFL after accusing them of corruption due to their handling of the resolution proposal following the suspension of last season due to the pandemic. Hearts then took over the mantle of taking the fight to the governing body, with them even taking them to court following their relegation to the second tier despite their being eight matches left.

The relationship between the two is far from from cordial, which makes the SPFL’s latest tweet rather bizarre. The Jam Tarts played a friendly on Wednesday, and shared a tweet when Josh Ginnelly scored. The authority then responded with a GIF that may have been intended to be a show of support, but that is not how many Hearts, or indeed Gers fans, saw it – they believe this to be an example of trolling.
