Rangers: Fans hammer Filip Helander - Rangers News

Glasgow Rangers should have beaten Benfica on Thursday in the Europa League, and the performance of Filip Helander was partly to blame for their collapse.

With less than 15 minutes left on the clock, the Gers were 3-1 up in Portugal. Benfica were even down to 10 men after Nicolas Otamendi was sent off early in the first half. Goals from Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos, as well as a Diogo Goncalves own-goal, appeared to have given the Ibrox outfit a famous victory.

Who scored more goals for the Gers?

However, Rafa Silva and Darwin Nunez struck late on to earn their side a point. The Gers are still unbeaten this season in all competitions and share the lead at the top of their Europa League group with seven points, but to drop points in such a fashion will feel like a defeat.

Sweden international Helander will be gutted with his display. Two of the goals arguably came from his mistakes, and he was dribbled past on no less than three occasions. Usually solid, he won just two from eight duels.

Should Filip Helander start for Glasgow Rangers?

The Gers were far from happy with his display, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
