Many Rangers fans have been left fuming at the decision by the referee not to send Jonathan Obika in their side’s game agianst St. Mirren.
The striker went in for a challenge on Connor Goldson with around 20 minutes to go in the game, but only got a yellow card for it despite several members of the Ibrox faithful claiming that he led with his elbow and thus, they think that he should have been given a straight red card instead.
Should Obika have been sent off?
It could have made the match more comfortable for Steven Gerrard’s team to play against 10 men, even though they were already 2-0 up at the time thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos in the first half.
Nonetheless, despite the three points ahead of the crucial Old Firm derby against their bitter rivals Celtic, a lot of Gers supporters were still left fuming at the decision not to send Obika off by the ref.
Rangers fan reaction to Obika yellow
These RFC fans fumed on Twitter upon seeing that Obika was not given a red card for his challenge:
“Lucky it should have been a red one….!”
“Blatant. Knew what he was doing, should have been a red.”
“Morelos does what Obika does he’s off. No doubts on that!!!”
“Red all day”
“He meant that. Should be a red.”
