According to Football Insider, Ross Wilson and Glasgow Rangers are very keen to see Connor Goldson sign a new contract ahead of the January transfer window.
New deal important for Goldson
With clubs south of the border expected to return in January, the 54-time Scottish champions are keen to see the former Brighton man commit his future to Ibrox.
So far this campaign, Goldson has been an absolute rock at the heart of Steven Gerrard’s defence. He has played in every single one of the 20 matches the Gers have played this term as they remain unbeaten. In fact, they have only conceded seven times in those matches. He has also proven handy at the opposite end of the pitch, netting four goals overall – his brace against Celtic in the 2-0 victory will live long in the memory.
Does Goldson deserve a new contract?
Even though the Gers would be looking to bring in £6m if they were to sell the 27 year-old, he is a player they cannot afford to lose. Especially halfway through a campaign as important as this one as Gerrard looks to lead Rangers to their first piece of major silverware since 2011. As such, it is essential that they convince Goldson to commit his future to the club.
