Glasgow Rangers journalist Jonny McFarlane claimed that Borna Barisic was giving him 'the fear' in their UEFA Europa League final clash on Wednesday night.

The Lowdown: van Bronckhorst faith

After being left out of the squad in the 3-1 win away at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, Giovanni van Bronckhorst brought back his faith in Barisic by picking him from the start against Frankfurt.

However, he seemed to struggle up against wide man Ansgar Knauff throughout the game, as the winger won four of his duels, managed two shots on goal and recorded one successful dribble, key pass, accurate cross and long ball (SofaScore).

The Latest: McFarlane reacts

Taking to Twitter, The Rangers Review journalist McFarlane took particular note of Barisic's battle with Knauff.

He thought that the Croatia international was losing it, claiming that he was 'giving me the fear'.

The Verdict: Not his best

A lot of the blame may have been put on Connor Goldson for the Teddy Bears not winning the match in full time after going 1-0 ahead through Joe Aribo.

He was accused of 'bad defending' and 'ball-watching' by journalist Raj Chohan, while Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie thought he was 'poor' in the build-up to Frankfurt's equaliser.

However, Barisic was not great defensively himself tonight, losing out on six of his duels, while he also made no interceptions, and gave the ball away a mammoth 27 times in total (SofaScore).
