South Africa fans were far from happy with a tweet from Glasgow Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu after his country’s 4-2 defeat of Sao Tome and Principe.
Zungu made the move to Ibrox on transfer deadline day, although he has played just 45 minutes under Steven Gerrard to date, coming on from the bench during the Gers’ 8-0 hammering of Hamilton. Described as a “dominant” midfielder by Gerrard, the latter and the Gers supporters will be hoping he can have a big impact during this campaign.
Will Zungu be a success at Ibrox?
It seems his social media activity may need a bit of work, though. Following the victory, he took to Twitter to slam South Africa supporters. He said:
“We lose!! Some of url complain! We win , u say it’s not good enough.”
This has outraged the country’s fans, who took to the social media platform to slam Zungu.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about Zungu below
The fact that you’re saying this as a Europe-based player is shocking.
With our resources & player pool, we should honestly be a Top-5 team on this continent.
Allowing Sao-Tome to pull 2 goals back and is the equivalent of San Marino pulling 2 back against Italy.

That’s not how a professional footballer should tweet. You can do better

Now we can all see why the top clubs around the world are hiring social media managers to help their players not tweet nonsense. Zungu is exhibit 1.

Zungu Shut up! You struggled agains a 182nd ranked Nation. What do you think you will offer when you face a nation in the top 20? Take us serious. On paper that game was a Mismatch! You needed to have won the game by 4 or 5 goals without conceeding such goals.

Zungu’s arrogance is annoying…especially after that pap perfomance against coffee makers
