The Star is reporting that Glasgow Rangers target John Lundstram is not in talks with Sheffield United over a new contract.

Lundstram could soon be a free agent

The Gers were linked with a move to bring Lundstram to Ibrox over the summer. In the end, though, the 26-year-old ended up staying at Bramall Lane.

Now, he has been given a take-it-or-leave-it offer to extend his time with the Yorkshire outfit. There is no deadline for him to have to accept the offer and no ongoing talks.

Interesting development for Rangers

Lundstram would certainly be an interesting option for the 54-time Scottish champions if they still retain an interest in the former England U20 international. He has plenty of experience, and he was an important member of Chris Wilder's side in an impressive first campaign for the Blades in the top flight last term - he scored five goals and provided three assists in the Premier League.

Currently valued at £7.2m (Transfermarkt), a transfer fee would likely be beyond the Gers' capabilities at this point. However, with him in the last year of his current deal, he could well be a bargain free signing for the Ibrox club from January, when he could pen a pre-contract. Kevin Phillips even told Football Insider that his signing would be a "massive coup" for the Gers. This is one that Ross Wilson and co should keep any eye on.

In other news, this multi-billion pound European deal could have a big impact on the Gers. Let us know what you think in the comments!
