According to The Mirror, Glasgow Rangers are set to do battle with Arsenal to sign Wigan Athletic youngster Kyle Joseph this summer.
Gers battle Arsenal for Joseph
19-year-old Joseph has impressed for the Latics in League One so far this campaign, scoring five goals in 14 matches (Transfermarkt).
As such, he has attracted plenty of interest from clubs in the UK. Along with the Gers and the Gunners, Celtic are also said to be eyeing the teenager.
One for the future
The age of the Gers’ recent signings suggest they are looking towards the future. Scott Wright, Jack Simpson, Ianis Hagi, Cedric Itten, Calvin Bassey, Ryan Kent, George Edmundson and Joe Aribo have all been signed in the last two years and are aged 24 or under.
Would you like to sign Kyle Joseph?
Joseph is a Scotland U19 international, so he would no doubt be at home playing for one of the country’s biggest clubs. Steven Gerrard does have plenty of options up front in Itten, Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos, but no-one would be expecting Joseph to go straight into the first team. If he would be prepared to wait a little for an extended first-team opportunity, the youngster would be a fantastic capture for Ross Wilson and co.
In other news, Gerrard reveals this fresh injury problem.
