Rangers: Gers eye Taiwo Awoniyi

Glasgow Rangers are said to be interested in taking Taiwo Awoniyi to Ibrox, according to a report from 90min.
Awoniyi on radar
The Gers are said to be interested in the 23-year-old, who is currently on loan at Union Berlin from Liverpool – he is yet to make a single appearance for the Reds.
Given his form so far during this campaign, the Anfield outfit could, according to the report, demand upwards of £5m for his services. Rangers are not the only side interested in the Nigerian, though – their fierce city rivals Celtic are also said to be in pursuit.
Potential great signing
After scoring one goal in 12 Bundesliga matches for Mainz last season (Transfermarkt), Awoniyi returned to Liverpool and was immediately shipped back out to Germany to join Union. After a slow start to the season, he has really kicked in to gear recently. He has five goals and two assists in his last eight games (Transfermarkt), with his performances helping to put Union into contention to end the season in the Champions League qualification spots.
Would you like to sign Awoniyi?
Yes

No

The German club themselves took to Twitter to call Awoniyi “amazing” following his fantastic string of displays, and it looks like he is a player whose stock continues to rise.
For the Gers, £5m is a considerable amount, but the striker is one for the future, and has already proven he can perform at the highest level. He could be a terrific purchase for Ross Wilson and co but the question is whether they could convince him to make a move to Scotland when he’s doing so well in the Bundesliga.
