Rangers: Fans rage at Ewan Murray tweet

Glasgow Rangers fans have been reacting to a tweet from Ewan Murray following recent offside calls in games involving the Old Firm.

There is no VAR in Scotland, and that means offside decisions remain under scrutiny. Cedric Itten’s equaliser against Motherwell last weekend was put under the microscope as the Switzerland international appeared to be offside from certain angles, while Nir Bitton’s effort to put Celtic 2-1 ahead against Livingston on Wednesday looked to be offside as well.

Murray took to Twitter to slam people praising the goals, saying that if they count despite going against the law of the games, there is no point applauding them. The Gers fans were far from happy with his comments, with many stating they thought Itten was onside.

“Away you go. Do you watch the English Premier League ? VAR has single handedly ruined that league … even entertaining games (like City v Villa last night) are ruined with it. We don’t talk about good footballers anymore … it’s about VAR. Keep it away from SPFL.”

“VAR would also work the other way & validate countless marginal decisions not given, several recent blatant pens that weren’t given spring to mind, mildly crass to highlight only one side of this debate if I’m honest”
