Jack Wilshere has revealed Glasgow Rangers didn’t want to sign him this season prior to his free transfer move to Bournemouth.

Wilshere discusses Gers move

Wilshere was taking part in a Q&A on Instagram when a fan asked him why he didn’t move to Ibrox.

In response, the 34-time England international said (Instagram via The Boot Room):

“They didn’t want me.”

Wilshere was heavily linked with a move to Rangers earlier on this season (talkSPORT), but he ending up joining the Cherries instead.

Interesting answer

This is certainly an interesting response from Wilshere. He has previously said the only reason he would move to Scotland would be to play under Steven Gerrard (Herald Scotland), suggesting the quality of the sport north of the border is not up to the required standard.

In seven appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth, he has two goals and one assist (Transfermarkt). At the age of just 29, he still has plenty to offer – if he can stay fit, that is. On a free transfer, the £3.6m-valued former Arsenal man (Transfermarkt) could have been a fantastic signing for Ross Wilson and co. However, clearly the powers at be with the 54-time Scottish champions felt he wasn’t the right fit for them.

In other news, this Rangers star is expected to leave the club this summer.
