Rangers have recalled winger Jake Hastie from his loan spell in English League One, with the news dividing opinion among some fans of the club.
As noted by the Light Blues’ official website rangers.co.uk and shared on Twitter via @RangersFC, the 21-year-old has returned from Rotherham after the two clubs came to an agreement to bring a premature end to his season-long loan deal with the Yorkshire-based outfit.

Hastie made 16 appearances in total for the Millers and scored three goals but had been struggling for game-time in recent weeks. After starting eight league games in a row during the autumn, he has had just two league starts since the beginning of November and played only 34 minutes in League One since December 21st, failing to make it off the bench in five of the last six matches. The winger, who joined Rangers from Motherwell last year, featured in two games for Steven Gerrard’s side in the early weeks of the season prior to his loan move to Rotherham. His return to Ibrox has split opinion among these ‘Gers fans on Twitter, with some preferring him to other wingers such as Brandon Barker and Sheyi Ojo, and others feeling that his abortive loan in England does not bode well for his Rangers hopes:
Would take Hastie over Ojo anyday of the week

Surely a better option than barker

Not sure the excitement from some on here and especially don’t understand folk wanting him in the squad.
The boy couldn’t get a game for Rotherham.
I’m not saying he will never not be good enough but he’s certainly miles off being good enough just now.

There are responses in here suggesting that Hastie walks into our squad tomorrow. He has returned to Rangers because he lost his place in the Rotherham team. I expect him to be loaned out to another team, along with Middleton, for the remainder of the season.

Can’t get a game for Rotherham. Surely won’t be walking into our side.

Were Rangers right to recall Hastie after he struggled for minutes at Rotherham? Would you like to see him getting first-team chances at Ibrox or is he simply not good enough for the ‘Gers? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
