While three defeats and counting against bitter rivals Celtic can never really lead to a great season for the Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern, they realise the gap between the two. 

The Gers are at least looking second best in the Scottish Premiership this season after a busy summer of change and they’ve largely been delighted by the former Brentford boss’ work at Ibrox.

It’s clearly going to be a long-term process in trying to take on the might of the Bhoys in years to come and perhaps the January transfer window can help further bridge the gap.

Some clever signings this month can not only help the Gers ensure the finish second and enter the fray for European football once more, but provide any arrival the chance to settle in for six months or so before starting afresh next term.

With this in mind, here are TWO deals Warburton should look to wrap up this week.

Jota

Jota played under Mark Warburton at Brentford and has been linked with a move to Ibrox this month.

The Spanish playmaker hasn’t had the best of seasons with the Bees, but could provide some much-needed creativity going forward for the Gers, especially in the absence of Niko Kranjcar.

Has all the makings of an Ibrox hero.

Andrew Considine

Moving for Aberdeen defender Andrew Considine would be a controversial move, considering the rivalry between the two clubs.

However, the 29-year-old has been linked with a surprise move to Ibrox as Warburton desperately tries to eradicate some of the defensive frailty that has plagued his campaign thus far.

Able to operate either centrally or on the left, the vastly experienced defender would be a solid signing at Ibrox.

With Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos entering the final six months on their respective deals, he could be a big addition.
