Glasgow Rangers have made an approach for Kjetil Knutsen regarding their managerial vacancy at Ibrox, according to reports.
The Lowdown: Beale and Dyche
The Scottish Premiership side sacked Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the start of the week after securing just two wins from seven in all competitions, meaning that Ross Wilson is now on the lookout to find his successor at the Ibrox.
Several names, including Michael Beale and Sean Dyche, have been linked with the job north of the border, though a new candidate has now entered the fold and it sounds like Bodo/Glimt’s boss has already been contacted by the Light Blues hierarchy.
The Latest: Rangers approach Knutsen
Taking to Twitter, The 4th Official revealed that Rangers have reached out to Knutsen about the possibility of him taking the position, though contact is only initial at this stage. They wrote:
“Michael Beale, Kjetil Knutsen and Sean Dyche are the three names that Rangers have sent feelers to at this time.”
The Verdict: Perfect candidate
Knutsen has been praised for his ‘attack-minded’ style of play by journalist Josh Bunting, and he could be an exciting addition in the dugout should he put pen to paper.
The Norwegian has won 115, drawn 48 and lost just 39 of his 202 matches in charge of Bodo/Glimt, with two titles and three consecutive Manager of the Year awards to his name (Transfermarkt).
This is exactly the level of consistency and success that Rangers will be looking for going forward, possibly making him the perfect candidate to take over the reins in Glasgow.
