Rangers are back at the top end of Scottish football and are looking to reassert their dominance over bitter rivals Celtic, but it’s taking a little longer than expected.

Gers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been hopeful all season that the results will start coming together but it’s been a long old campaign which has seen them, at times, struggle to find their feet in the top flight.

However, after some decent results over the past couple of weeks, including the mauling of Hamilton, things look like they’re slowly falling into place at Ibrox, much to the delight of our punters.

But with plenty of work still to do in Glasgow over the coming seasons, it’s important that potential incomings are only going to help the side going forward.

So with that in mind and fans here in the Tavern wanting to see some major improvements next season, here are TWO strategic signings Rangers must seal in the summer transfer window…

Modou Barrow

Leeds United are having one of their best seasons in a long while and it’s all been masterminded by manager Garry Monk, who has done a superb job this campaign.

But one Whites player who isn’t having much joy is Swansea City loanee Modou Barrow, who is struggling for game-time at Elland Road.

He was brought in to provide much-needed pace on the flanks but has struggled to get into the first-team over the past few weeks. With Swansea playing well and new manager Paul Clement not showing any signs of recalling the winger, could a move to Rangers this summer really get his career going again?

The fans in here seem to like the suggestion of taking the Gambian north of the border.

Gary Mackay-Steven

Gary Mackay-Steven is a Celtic player who has seriously struggled to break into the starting XI over the past few months and despite being linked with a move away in January, he remained at Parkhead.

Of course, suggesting a Celtic player moves to Rangers doesn’t go down at all well here in the Tavern but you’ve got to look at his quality.

Mackay-Steven is a terrifically talented footballer who deserves more time on the pitch and one that would certainly add something different at Ibrox.
