Steven Gerrard could lose a key member of his Rangers backroom staff in the summer.
According to a report by The Daily Record, Peter Lovenkrands has emerged as a possible candidate for FC Nordsjaelland.
The Danish top-flight outfit are on the hunt for a new manager in the summer as current boss Kasper Hjulmand is set to leave at the end of his contract.
Lovenkrands has been impressing many onlookers with his coaching ability in the two years he has been in charge of the reserve side at Ibrox.
And, it could be difficult for Gerrard to keep the former Rangers hero at the club as the 39-year-old has admitted he would be ‘flattered’ by any interest from Nordsjaelland.
“Of course, I’d be flattered by any interest from FC Nordsjaelland,” he said.
“They’re my local club and being manager is something I want to do in the future.
“But I love my job at Rangers and that’s all I’m focusing on right now.”
The Verdict:
Lovenkrands is a hero at Rangers following his six-year spell with the club between 2000-06 and many would be disappointed to see him leave the club.
The Dane has done extremely well with the club’s reserve team as they sit at the top of the table, whilst looking to bring up a few of the academy players to the next level of football.
However, the possibility of returning to a club local to where he grew up as a child and having the chance to manage them could be too good for Lovenkrands to turn down.
