Rangers: Ryan Jack offered new deal at Ibrox

Ryan Jack is ‘closing in on a fresh agreement’ after being offered a new contract by Rangers, according to a report from Football Insider

The 27-year-old has been extremely impressive so far in the 2019/20 season. He has been a regular in the team, making 13 starts already in all competitions, and has chipped in with a goal in the Gers’ Europa League campaign as well as a couple of assists in the Scottish Premiership.

Having now firmly established himself as one of Steven Gerrard’s key players, the club are thought to be keen to tie the Scottish international down to a longer deal.

According to the report from Football Insider, the midfielder could be offered a contract worth around £20,000 per week, which would make him one of the highest earners at Ibrox.

Since arriving from Aberdeen in 2017, Jack has made a total of 80 appearances for Rangers, scoring five goals and racking up nine assists.

He actually only recently signed a contract extension in December 2018, which is set to expire in the summer of 2021. But the club seem to have a policy of rewarding players who produce excellent performances, with last season’s top scorer Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier already benefiting from this as it appears that Jack could be the latest to be offered fresh terms.

It would certainly be a move that should suit all parties involved. It means that Rangers have one of their star players tied down for a longer period of time, whilst for Jack, it is the reward that he arguably deserves having become a regular in Steven Gerrard’s team.
