Rangers: Steven Gerrard comes in for criticism from these ‘Gers fans after recent slump

Plenty of Rangers fans have been reacting to a tweet from ‘Gers-focused channel @4ladshadadream which accused some players of “letting us down” – although some feel that a significant portion of culpability rests elsewhere at Ibrox.

The Light Blues closed to within two points of the Premiership summit heading into the winter break after beating leaders Celtic 2-1 but have now fallen seven points off the pace after failing to win two of their last three games, losing at Hearts and drawing to Aberdeen. By contrast, the Hoops have won all four of their matches since the resumption of the Premiership campaign.

Even in some of their recent wins, Rangers have seemed decidedly unimpressive. It took them until almost half-time to break down third-tier Stranraer in a 2-0 Scottish Cup win last month, with the same occurring in the 2-0 defeat of Premiership strugglers Ross County last week, while they also had a “nervous” 1-0 win over St Mirren (as per Sky Sports‘ Charles Paterson) in January.

After seeing the tweet from @4ladshadadream calling the players into question, these Rangers fans feel that manager Steven Gerrard (and, to a lesser extent, his coaching staff) must take a large portion of responsibility for the recent results that have allowed Celtic to steal a march in the title race:

Do you think Gerrard has been the main reason for Rangers’ recent dip in form or do the players have to shoulder responsibility? Have your say by commenting below!
