A number of Rangers fans have expressed their disappointment at the exit of winger Jamie Murphy from the club.
The Light Blues confirmed on their official website rangers.co.uk that the 30-year-old will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Burton Albion, with the news shared by the club’s Twitter channel @RangersFC.

According to BBC, Steven Gerrard had been keen for Murphy to go out on loan after he struggled for game-time at Ibrox this season, making just two appearances since returning from the anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in a game at Kilmarnock in August 2018. Prior to that horrendous setback, he had scored six goals and provided 13 assists in just 27 games for the club, whom he initially joined from Brighton two years ago.
Some Rangers fans believe that Murphy should have been kept at Ibrox over fellow wingers Brandon Barker and Sheyi Ojo, with the former being slated by a number of fans over his performance against Stranraer last Friday and the latter also coming under fire from a portion of the ‘Gers faithful in recent weeks. Here’s a sample of the reaction to Murphy being loaned out by the Ibrox club:
10x better than Ojo or Barker

Stupidity when we are giving Barker actual game time.

Think we should have kept him cos he’s better than Barker and Ojo. Hopefully we’ll go out and get another winger in

Should’ve played ahead of Ojo + Barker every day of the week

After what happened to JM giving his all for the club and getting such a devastating injury I would rather see him on the bench than Ojo.

Jamie Murphy > Brandon Barker
