According to The Mirror, Rangers are looking at signing Bristol Rovers’ in-form striker Matty Taylor with our resident Gers fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping that it proves to be an inspired signing.
Fans of the Ibrox club here by the bar have reservations over the signing of players after the Joey Barton fiasco, but think that Mark Warburton will get things right more than wrong, and also see the forward as a much lower risk potential buy than the midfielder.
Taylor has impressed in League 1 for the resurgent Rovers who were in non-league football not too long ago and has a strong tally of 15 goals for the club already this season.
That form has reportedly attracted a number of Championship clubs interested in securing his services, too, so the Scottish top flight club could have their work cut out trying to sign him.
The Glasgow club have made a decent enough return to the top division in Scotland this season but are far behind their fierce rivals Celtic, who once again look good for the title.
For Warburton, then, he may already have one eye on next season and in signing Taylor he’ll be hoping for the gap to close for 2017/18.
