Last year here at the Transfer Tavern we witnessed one of the biggest shocks in footballing history when Leicester City won the Premier League title but it’s not quite worked out thus far for the Foxes this season.

This year they find themselves nearer to relegation than anything else and their big stars from 2015/16 just aren’t doing the business this term.

In Europe they topped their Champions League group much to the surprise of many and perhaps the focus of that has meant they’ve not been concentrating on the Premier League as much.

Some here in the Transfer Tavern, meanwhile, think that the rest of the league have got their number now as another reason for their poor form.

Either way things need to change and quickly for the Foxes if they want to make the top half or even the European spots this season.

That in mind, then, our landlord reckons Claudio Ranieri needs to get more out of these two Leicester stars who are seriously under-performing…

Riyad Mahrez

The stand out star last season and not just for Leicester City but in the Premier League as a whole.

This year however, he’s been silent and like he’s not even on the pitch at times for the Foxes. The Algerian really needs to get back to his best if his side are to have any kind of chance of even breaking into the top ten. It really does seem with him that every manager has made a perfect plan to stop him playing this time around.

Jamie Vardy

The man who last year broke records and just could not stop scoring simply cannot hit a barn door with a banjo this season!

The career he has had is remarkable whilst there is no denying the talent is there for the world to see and should he find that goal scoring form again this season and Leicester City will have no problems. For the sake of the Foxes and England the Vardy of last season to turn up and needs to do so pretty sharpish according to our landlord.
