Rangers: Ibrox sources reveal ‘huge’ boost

Glasgow Rangers are reportedly now set for a ‘huge’ boost with Ibrox sources breaking news ahead of their UEFA Europa League second leg on Thursday night.

The Lowdown: Big game

After their 1-0 loss in the first leg away at RB Leipzig, the home tie on Thursday really is a big one, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team must overcome the deficit and win on the night if they are to secure a path through to the final in front of their supporters.

Rangers news!

They have done tremendously well to get to this far in the competition anyway, but getting through to the final is sure to reap more rewards, as news now breaks on a mega boost in the boardroom.

The Latest: ‘Huge’ boost

According to Football Insider, Ibrox sources have revealed that the Teddy Bears have already secured £10m in performance-related pay-outs so far this term, and can expect to add another £15m to that in top-ups as well as whatever they earn this week.

They are set for another ‘huge’ financial boost should they get through against Leipzig, but even if they were to go out, they have already surpassed their 2019/20 European earnings of £20.7m from the competition, due to the return of supporters to the stadium.

The Verdict: Exciting

Even though the defence of their Scottish Premiership title has been largely disappointing in truth, as they trail leaders Celtic by six points, the Light Blues have at least enjoyed a successful European campaign, and the money they are earning from it is a welcome boost to the club’s future successes too.

The spike in earnings would give them a healthier transfer budget going into the summer window, and could represent the cash needed in order to renew important contracts for first-team players set to expire.

Nonetheless, with the home crowd behind them, the Gers will be confident that they can turn the tie around on Thursday, thus representing another significant financial boost.
