Our punters are looking up with surprise on their faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as Metro claim that Luke Shaw has attracted yet another admirer.
Real Madrid have been linked with the Southampton left back, who seems unable to do any wrong this season, with Chelsea and Manchester United both in hot pursuit of the England international.
As one of our punters quips on his way to the bar, to have Real Madrid sniffing around is a huge sign of just how high the Southampton player’s star has risen this season, and his price tag will reflect that in spades.
The player will cost upwards of £20 million, with some even quoting a figure around £30 million, and when sides such as Chelsea and Real Madrid are involved, the price war is not exactly going to be a bargain basement one!
Shaw is settled on the south coast, but wants to move on to bigger and better things in the next couple of years, but as our landlord notes, Spain may well be a little bit too much for him.
Given Real Madrid managed to prise Gareth Bale away from the Premier League, our punters think the sky is the limit.
