The Football Transfer Tavern has witnessed yet another great escape contrived by Sam Allardyce as Crystal Palace escaped relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
The Eagles have had an underwhelming campaign and would have possibly expected more than a relegation scrap ahead of the 2016/17 season, and the Palace fans can bask in the fact they have Premier League football at Selhurst Park next season.
Allardyce has a major task on his hands this summer as a large clear-out is likely to occur at the club, but it remains unclear as to what positions will be altered and whether there will be any potential arrivals into the first-team during the transfer window.
Our Palace-mad bar man suggests a reliable striker behind Christian Benteke should be the priority, however, it’s not all about the incomings and fans should be worried about the exit door.
Realistically, these two Crystal Palace players are likely to be axed this summer….
Zeki Fryers
Since making the move to Selhurst Park in the summer of 2014, Zeki Fryers has enjoyed little game time and specifically this campaign where the defender has been limited to a measly eight top-flight appearances for the Eagles.
The 24-year-old has been criticised by Sam Allardyce recently, mentioning how the full-back isn’t experienced enough for the first-team yet, which suggests he may be on his way out this summer.
When Fryers broke through the Manchester United ranks as a youngster, here at the Football Transfer Tavern we were certain he would be the future of the England national team but the axe at Crystal Palace is looming.
Bakary Sako
Bakary Sako, 29, was destined to be a certain starter at Crystal Palace upon his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers two years ago but that hasn’t been the case as Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend have dominated the wings this season.
Fans here in the Tavern were fully expecting the Gabon international to depart the capital in January.
Edging towards the wrong side of thirty years-old and his lack of featuring for Allardyce’s squad this campaign may signal that Sako is going to be axed in the coming weeks or months at Selhurst Park.
